Lets Talk About The Four Classic Types Of Toenail Fungus.
One of the most common types of tinea or a fungal nail disease is distal subungual onychomycosis, caused by a fungus called trichophyton rubrum. This basically means that the infection starts in the area underneath the nail, and then spreads to the tip, where it can then move on the top of the nail.
This sort of toe nail fungus can be recognized by simply looking for changes in the nail. Any of the symptoms above can be located, at which point you should go to see your local doctor for more information and tinea treatment options.
Another form of ringworm of the nail is white superficial onychomycosis, and as the same suggests, the fungus starts life as a small white spot on top of the nail, and starts to grow and spread.
This whiteness will then take over the nail and you will see other symptoms, such as brittleness of the nail and crumbling around the edges. This is most common with the toenails (toenail fungus), although it can be seen on fingernails even though it is less likely.
Proximal subungual onychomycosis is a type of nail fungus that starts around the cuticle and spreads through the rest of the nail including the nail bed, this is uncommon in healthy individuals, although to people with a weak immune system it can be common. Again, this type of disease of the nails will give some of the symptoms listed above, and you should contact your medical professional as soon as you start to notice symptoms.
At least there is one kind caused by the candida species, called candidal onychomycosis, but usually occurs in already damaged fingernails of persons who immerse their hands in water frequently. Nail fungus explained on Wiki and the different methods of Fungal Nail Treatment here.
